In the depths of its beauty,
So complex,
So rich with nutrients,
Life flourishes,
So much beauty,
yet so destructive.
Maybe,
Just Maybe,
This is why,
We connect,
So deeply,
To this,
Spherical floating matter.

The Artist
There is something so captivating about these rigid peaks that spark my curiosity. I want to know what lies within the trees, the challenge at hand when climbing a mountain. There is something truly beautiful about the strength and softness mother nature can command; a true artist. The beauty of alpine lakes, the music of the wind between the pines, the songs of the birds chirping, and the peacefulness of nothing. No outside noise.
Then, you’re shown who is really in charge. Suddenly, you’re exposed to the elements, climbing in pain, but determined to reach the top. At the heights, you are reminded of the beauty, but the efforts you had to go through in order to truly appreciate it. You’re strong, but she is stronger. Mother nature teaches us who we really are and reveals our best self.
The Grit
Hiking to me, goes so much deeper. Being that, my soul gets rejuvenated after every adventure. I get more insight, more inspired. Certainly, there is something about the grit, the in between; where I find myself. Don’t get me wrong, I hike for the views. The views are what we are rewarded with at the end. As a matter of fact, there is no way I just did all of that hard work for nothing!
In particular, the mental health benefits are no match. Man, does it feel great to distract my mind and focus on something else, other than my gazillion thoughts in my head. Particularly, these are some of my thoughts: I’m fucking tired, my legs are burning, and, man, this is a calf burner!
Expressly, climbing a mountain, going through the pain, resembles a lot of the challenges we face in life. Trekking gives me a different point of view, from a different lens, when it comes to looking at my everyday struggles. To demonstrate, it helps me realize my everyday struggles are the grit. But as well, the mountain reminds me how small my problems actually are. We are so small compared to this spherical floating matter. In reality, out on the mountain, our problems don’t exist.
Altogether, I choose to be thankful for challenges. Through challenges, we learn about the true potential we have. We can’t turn back now, we have gone too far. The only way is up. Moreover, I have to dig deep. I have no other choice, but to be strong, but to persevere, and to keep going. In the end, the view was great, and the pain was only temporary.
