Welcome to my escapades. I want to talk about how to enjoy the outdoors, overcoming my fear of hiking, and being in the middle of nowhere.
Go the distance and scale the highest peak.
How to Enjoy the Outdoors
Hiking 101 of how to enjoy the outdoors. Pack the ten essentials!! I use All Trails as navigation and a digital map. To emphasize, it does not matter how well marked a trail can be, please take some sort of navigation either way. Research any common wild life you may encounter on your trip and the safety precautions that come with that.
Further, pack for weather. Keep in mind your physical capabilities and plan accordingly. For example, if you don’t have the skill set and physical endurance to climb Mt. Rainier, it probably wouldn’t be a good idea to do so without anyone who has said skills to show you. Know the terrain of your desired trail. Always carry plenty of food and water for your trip. Pace yourself. Never leave your group; ALWAYS stick together.
Comparatively, having a plan in place and a destination, it can put one’s mind at ease. These are the very things I have to do every time I go out to explore new and old trails. It makes the adventure that much more enjoyable. Safety helped me with my fear of hiking, trekking trails less traveled and backpacking. As an added bonus, I have a life partner who enjoys adventure just as much as I do, so I always have the best company.
In Summary
All in all, enjoy the outdoors. The outdoors are for everyone who can respect nature and plan accordingly. Again, pack the ten essentials always. Likewise, make sure to have enough liquids and fuel for your trip. Lastly, if you are going in a group, ALWAYS stick together. Go have a blast and see what our world has to offer.
